Service Description
Whether you are planning for a caesarean birth, or you simply want to feel prepared in case one becomes necessary, this session is designed to help you feel calm, informed and confident. Led by experienced NHS midwives, this course provides clear, practical information about what to expect before, during, and after a caesarean birth. We aim to remove uncertainty, reduce anxiety, and help you feel more in control of your experience. You'll learn how to prepare for surgery, understand what happens in theatre, and explore ways to make your birth experience feel calm, positive and personalised. We also discuss recovery, feeding, and how to support bonding with your baby after birth. This session is suitable for those with a planned caesarean, as well as anyone who would like to feel more prepared should a caesarean become a part of their birth journey. What this session covers: • What to expect before, during and after a caesarean birth • Preparing physically and emotionally for surgery • What happens in theatre • Birth partner roles and support • Gentle caesarean options where available • Early recovery and postnatal care • Feeding and bonding after birth Please note: At present, sessions are arranged on request rather than scheduled regularly.
